Along the years The Foundry has developed an in-house bronze which is used for castings. This bronze has a high copper content which gives our patinas a brighter quality. The Foundry also has an aluminium alloy available, and produces works in plaster as well as hydro resin. We specialise in working with the lost wax casting process - the traditional method predominantly used in Italy. This method, coupled with our experience in casting a large variety of sculptural styles, gives us the freedom to cater for each of our client's needs and requirements.
With over 15 years of experience, and having worked directly under the late sculptor and founder - Joseph Chetcuti - Christopher, heads the Foundry and works directly with artists, art collectors and patrons of the arts in order to satisfy and support all requests which range from consultation on repair-works, restoration of bronze sculptures, advice on installation and materials.
The Foundry caters for a variety of tools and materials which are essential for the production of three-dimensional forms and sculptures. These materials include: Silicone putty in rubber and liquid form; release agents; plastiline; Renaissance wax; plaster of Paris; jute, and sculpting wax. A selection of sculpting tools is also available.
Furthermore, The Foundry has a collection of plaster casts - hanging and free standing - some of which are signed by the late Joseph Chetcuti, whilst others were modelled using classical Roman or Greek sculptures. Kindly get in touch should you wish to view our portfolio.
The Foundry occasionally organises workshops and masterclasses - aimed at giving small groups of participants, whether beginners or artists working in various forms and mediums - practical and hands-on experience which covers all aspects of the bronze casting process. The Foundry will soon be hosting open days, on the last Friday of every month - this is aimed at giving visitors insight into the workings and happenings at the Foundry and the process of creation / production of bronze artworks.
